Benahavis Benahavis is a delightful mountain village which boasts examples of the richest and most important cuisine along this coast. The origins of the locaility in the times of the Arab occupation, appearing under the protection of the Monte Mayor Castle when the territory was owned by the Banu Havis (meaning "Children from Hell") family, from which the present name of the village is derived.

FAIRS & FESTIVITIES All the fairs and festivities take place between the 11th and 15th August with a special mass sung in Sevillana style. The procession of La Virgen del Rosario which is held in August, and the traditional romeria (outdoor party) which is held in October, is also of great interest.

RESTAURANT PARADISE Without doubt one of the most important aspects of Benahavis is the impressive cuisine. The village is popularly known as the "dining room" of the Costa del Sol because of the large number of restaurants it contains of every style and category. They offer the chance to try almost everything, but Benahavis bases its specialities around pork, lamb and game.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES There is a Multi-Sports Centre which offers an outdoor swimming pool, football, basket ball, tennis, paddle tennis and a municipal gym.
